Godot Game Engine Community Manager Puts Social Activism Above Gaming

In trouble the Godot Game Engine is, after a rogue community manager decided to take on social activism. If you are confused, let's begin from the start. "Godot is a cross-platform, free and open-source game engine released under the permissive MIT license." In other words, it is an engine people utilize to develop video games. Other game engines include, for instance, Unreal. Godot Game Engine has been accused of social activism for a while now, and since pandering to social causes is the new normal, most people ignore them.

All of this was changed when a community manager decided to go full mental breakdown and started banning anyone who does not agree with their worldview. Let's start once more from the beginning. It all started when a tweeter said, "The Godot Engine is awesome, is just that they let activist poison the well". They speak of the Godot community manager here. Such events led to the community manager making his way to the official account. "Apparently game engines are woke now. Well then, we won't complain". The end of the tweet by a rainbow flag and "Show is your wokot game below".

This led another Twitter user to say "go woke go broke" with one statement that was enough for the community manager to block the user. Another Twitter user got treated similarly when they said, "I will still like and use Godot even if half the regular dev working on it were to be woke because its an amazing community project full of people of may different backgrounds but I think it just creates division and no unity to say stuff like this." It was enough for another moderator to hide the criticism.

Godot Game EngineBlocking Spree

When the blocked started reproducing, a two-tweet response finally came from the CEO to a blocked user with the message "Godot CoC is only for interactions with the project or in project social media channels. If you behave properly, you should not be banned, no matter what your political bias is. Nobody has been instructed to ban people for who they follow or what they post in public."

They proceeded saying, "Okay, so if you join and sign up on the forums and then in your bio, you write that your gender is an attack helicopter, or if you do anything kind of harassment/discrimination there that will be an immediate ban, but that will be your pinned message ad should be unrelated." Of course, the CEO answers to users who never interacted with their engine. This means the community manager simply bans people left and right without a reason.

For the most part, it feels like the game engine is hijacked by people more interested in activism than gaming. Sadly, this is a trend that is occurring throughout the gaming space. You hire one crazy person. They get out of control and start to take things over. This results in some within the company leaving. That same crazy person makes a hiring recommendation, and suddenly there are two crazy people. They bring in their friends who happen to be crazy too, and you know; infest your entire company before you ever even know it. The speed is so quick and spreads like an illness.

The Godot Crazy Continues

Things went worse when another community moderator decided to join in on the fun. This is Xananax, pronouns in the bio. First of all, if you call yourself a mental illness pill, you are already too far gone. But they proceeded to make a long statement, "The drama isn't created by Godot, who just made a nice tweet to surface cool indie games. This drama is created by reactionary insecure cowards who have nothing better to do in their day than to shit on something they are unconcerned with.". They even get persecuted because other people are around and within view.

These cowards and low-vision murphys are a danger to society; They are human rubbish, and this act is a mercy to them and others, so they could go back to their fantasy world of cowards, while not getting exposed to real people, of a different type. For me, the problem of this tweet is that it doesn't happen every day so more of these imbeciles can be banned. They should do these tweets every 30 minutes and anyone with a problem with them can fucking off some more.

And if anyone has some minute problem with it here can fuck off too. Not to have caused drama is pretty easy: There will be no drama the day those drama queens stop getting their panties in a knot around that doesn't concern you in any way. Just do your best, just be a normal human being about it, and there will be no drama. "

The Crazy Continues

They ended that by saying, "You have no right of speech here, because I consider your speech to be toxic vomit. If you think inviting queer people to share their games is politics, you're a toxic piece of fuck, an evil human, and I want to feel disrespected and to fuck off as fast as you can.".

Now, the clown who says all this also has a horrible online history. Dropped the N-bomb left and right on Discord while virtue signaling is always the case-those who have the most to hide. Today, the company finally issued a response to all of the backlash, saying, "On Friday, we made a tweet that we did not anticipate would result in a wave of harassment against our staff and community. We unequivocally condemn this abuse.

The volume of negative engagement overwhelmed our moderation efforts. While attempting to protect the Godot community, we mistakenly blocked individuals who were not participating in the harassment.". The Godot Foundation Board takes full responsibility for all moderation actions. If you think you have been blocked in error and did not violate our Code of Conduct, please let us know with the form linked below. We are committed to making swift corrections. We stand firmly behind our mission to keep community spaces free of hate-, discrimination-, and other toxic behaviors.

Conclusion

All that a lot of noise in what they are trying to say with their statement. Unfortunately, Godot is not doing too good a job with this statement. They attempt to give the impression that most of their hate is not theirs to begin with. People cannot stand to be preached to by constant moderations throwing the N-word around regularly. These are the people trying to virtue signal to the rest of us on diversity and inclusion. The truth is people are sick of this type of hypocrisy. As said above, if you have to declare online every five minutes that you are inclusive and not racist, you likely have something to hide. Those who preach the hardest online often have the most to hide.

It's hard to cry about online harassment when your own community managers are just doing it--slamming anyone who doesn't happen to agree with them. I certainly don't need a lesson in morals from people who name themselves after a mental illness drug, who throw the N-word around like it's playing cards.
